Provider Terms

Version 1.1 — April 2026

Last updated: 11 April 2026

These Provider Terms apply to all inspection providers ("Providers") registered on the CompareEngineering.com platform ("the Platform"), operated by CompareEngineering.com Ltd (Company No. 17117072). These terms supplement the general Terms of Use, which also apply to Provider accounts.

1. Provider Registration and Eligibility

Providers must be UK-based engineering inspection companies or sole practitioners with appropriate qualifications, insurance, and (where applicable) accreditation to carry out the inspection disciplines they register for on the Platform.

By registering, you confirm that you hold valid professional indemnity insurance and public liability insurance appropriate to the scope of inspection services you intend to offer through the Platform.

2. Quote Request Process

When a quote request is matched to your profile, you will be notified and invited to review the request. You may accept the invitation (and submit a quote) or decline (with an optional reason). There is no obligation to quote on any particular request.

Quotes must be submitted through the Platform in the structured format provided. Quotes must be accurate, based on the information available, and represent genuine pricing that you are prepared to honour subject to on-site survey and confirmation.

3. Lead Fees

A lead fee is charged at the point of quote submission (not at the point of contract award). This reflects the commercial value of the introduction, regardless of outcome. There is no fee for viewing or declining a quote request.

Current fee tiers are displayed within the Platform at the point of quote submission. CompareEngineering.com reserves the right to adjust fee tiers with 30 days' written notice.

4. Success Commission

Where a contract is awarded to you through the Platform, a success commission is charged based on the first-year contract value. The applicable commission rate depends on your registration tier as follows:

4.1 Founding Providers

Providers who register during the founding period benefit from a reduced, locked commission rate:

Founding provider status is confirmed in your provider agreement. The locked 5% rate applies for the first 24 months from your registration date and cannot be altered during that period.

4.2 Post-Founding Providers

Providers who register after the founding period are subject to the standard commission schedule:

4.3 General

Commission is calculated on the first-year contract value as stated in the awarded quote. CompareEngineering.com reserves the right to update the standard commission schedule for post-founding providers with 30 days' written notice. Founding provider locked rates are not subject to variation during the locked period.

5. Non-Circumvention

By accessing a quote request through the Platform, you agree that:

Breach of this clause may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your Platform account and the right for CompareEngineering.com to pursue damages equal to the actual loss suffered, including lost lead fees and commissions, plus reasonable administration costs.

6. Data Protection and Confidentiality

Quote request details, buyer information and asset schedules shared through the Platform are confidential. You may only use this information for the purpose of preparing and submitting a quote in response to the specific request. You must not use buyer data obtained through the Platform for marketing, resale or any other purpose.

Where you process personal data received through the Platform (including buyer contact details and asset schedule data), you do so as an independent data controller. You must comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 in respect of all such data.

Before accessing quote request data, you agree to the terms of the CompareEngineering.com Data Processing Agreement, which governs the processing of personal data shared between the Platform and Providers. The DPA forms part of these Provider Terms.

7. Accreditation and Compliance

You must maintain all relevant accreditations, certifications and insurance throughout the duration of your registration on the Platform. You must notify CompareEngineering.com immediately if any accreditation is suspended, withdrawn or lapses.

The Platform may display your accreditation status (e.g. UKAS, SAFed, IPAF) to prospective customers. You confirm that any accreditation information you provide is accurate and current.

8. Liability

CompareEngineering.com is an introducer only. All inspection work carried out following an introduction through the Platform is governed by your own terms and conditions with the customer. You are solely responsible for the quality, safety and compliance of any inspection services you provide.

You agree to indemnify CompareEngineering.com against any claims, losses or liabilities arising from the inspection services you provide to customers introduced through the Platform.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate the provider relationship with 30 days' written notice. CompareEngineering.com may terminate immediately in the event of a material breach of these terms, including breach of the non-circumvention clause.

Upon termination, outstanding lead fees and commissions remain payable. The non-circumvention obligations survive termination for the full 12-month period from the date of last quote request disclosure.

10. Governing Law

These Provider Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Moved About Plant (MAP)

Certain equipment inspected through the Platform may be classified as "Moved About Plant" (MAP) — assets that do not remain at a single fixed site but are regularly relocated (e.g. mobile cranes, hire fleet pressure vessels, portable LEV units).

12.1 MAP Capability Declaration

Providers who are able to inspect MAP assets at variable or customer-specified locations may enable MAP capability in their provider profile. Quote requests containing MAP assets are only distributed to providers who have declared MAP capability. You must ensure your MAP capability declaration is accurate and reflects your current operational capacity.

12.2 Inspection Location Confirmation

The customer must confirm the inspection location for MAP assets a minimum of 3 working days before the scheduled inspection date. If the customer fails to confirm the location within this timeframe, the Provider may reschedule the inspection at no additional cost to the customer, or may treat the appointment as a cancellation in accordance with their own terms and conditions.

12.3 Mobilisation and Travel Costs

Providers may add mobilisation or travel costs for MAP assets as a separate line item in their quote. These costs must be clearly itemised and distinguished from the inspection fee. The Platform will display mobilisation costs separately so that customers can compare like-for-like.

12.4 Location Changes After Quote Acceptance

If the customer changes the inspection location for a MAP asset after the quote has been accepted, the Provider may issue a revised quote reflecting the updated mobilisation or travel requirements. The revised quote must be submitted through the Platform. The customer is not obligated to accept the revised quote and may cancel without penalty if the revised price is not acceptable, provided cancellation is made in accordance with the Provider's cancellation terms.
